Elvira L. / Being an adult is hard. So take advantage of all of the resources.

A challenge for me was connecting to a foster parent or group home staff that cared. I lived in over 30 foster homes and 12 placements. At my last group home before transitioning out I connected with my momma I call her, she cared about me and pushed me to do all of the things I wanted to. She inspired me to for college. She made me feel worthy.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone in the system now it would be that it may seem like your there forever, but being an adult is hard. So take advantage of all of the resources. The foster care system taught me how to be independent and how to hustle for everything I need.

The thing I needed most when emancipating from the foster care system was being educated on how to apply for an apartment and why credit is so important.
