Alejandra G. / Continue to take your education seriously.

My most defining and challenging experience as a foster child was the difficulty in transitioning into a new lifestyle. While the foster system places children in stable homes, transitioning can be one of the hardest things.

If I could give one piece of advice to someone in the system now I would say don’t give up and go to college if you want to. There are so many resources for you if you choose to attend college, don’t let the money stop you and continue to take your education seriously.

The foster care system taught resilience. It taught me to continue on even when things get very difficult. I was in the foster care system twice during my life and I know that parent's struggles don’t always just go away after they go through treatment. It’s an uphill battle that starts with your support and good behavior.
